The sun was definitely shing on Hazells members today with 3 successes to report. The day started with the Mens Top Club Match away to Cheddington.

Gerald Moores represented Hazells in the Two Wood Compeition and found himself drawn against Pete Rowling, last years EBA Two Wood Winner so this was always going to be a tough game and unfortunately Gerry lost 14-11. Roger Crick then played the singles competition and got Hazells first win on the board, 21-16. Inspired by our first win Brian Abigail & Ian Brown  came back from 18-13 after 17 ends to win the pairs 23-18, picking up 6 shots on the 20th end. The Triples team of Steve McNeill, Fred Baldwin & John Smith found themselves 6 down after the first four ends and they too came back well to win their match 16-11 giving Hazells the 3 wins they needed to progress to the next round. The Fours ofNick Griffiths, Don Russell, Jack Pipe & Lionel Cheshire also had to fight back from 19-11 down to finish the match losing 20-19. This results means that Hazells men now have to travel to Princes Risborough in the next round.

In the second match of the day Janet Moores played Dot Simmons from Aylesbury Town in the Champion of Champions competition. After 15 ends the scores were level at 12 all, after 24 ends it was still all level at 19 all, after 26 ends it was 20 all and then Janet Moores picked on 2 shots on the next end to take the match and progress on to the next round.

In the third and final game of the day we welcomed Dunstable Bowls Club for a 6 Triple friendly. Despite 2 of our bowlers arriving late after heading off in the opposite direction and arriving at Dunstable Bowls Club only to find they should have been at home we managed to win this match 123-88. Highest winning rink in this game went to Sue Smith, Eddie Justice & Tom Holland winning 31-5. We had 3 further winning rinks helping to round off a successful day for the club.
