Rink 5 - Colin Crosby, Bruce Patterson, Malcolm Hobson & Brian Abigail won 32-14

Rink 6 - Andrew MacKenzie, Eddie Justice, Don Russell & Lionel Cheshire lost 19-17

24th August 2013

The last of the years celebrations saw the much anticiapted Men v Ladies match and with both captains looking to motivate their teams to success the usual tranquility of the bowls green was just a distant memory. Tom Holland opened the proceedings with an inspiring speech on our wondeful club and its past and expectations for the future. This was followed by a "Spider" competition which was won by Norman Bonham, who was seen leaving the premises at the end of the day with a bottle of whisky under his arm. The match then started with both teams looking to get off to an early lead for the rest of the team to follow. A great afternoons bowls was had by all and the results are as follows:

Rink 1 - Dan Livett, Keith Harper, Steve McNeill & Eddie Chanell won 29-4 against Pam Spokes, Kate Griffiths & Nina Lane

Rink 2 - Matthew Crick, Ian Ramsay, Reg Paul & Lionel Cheshire won 27-5 against Sue Smith, Ellen Livett, Sheila Holland & Carol Crick

Rink 3 - Don Russell, John Simmons, Eddie Justice & John Smith won 20-19 against Maureen Warwick, Hazel Harper, Dot Russell &  Jan Moores

Rink 4 - Gerald Moores, Neil Thompson, Jack Pipe & Roger Crick lost 15-14 to Yvonne Abigail, Sheila Lawlor & Ann Ramsay

Rink 5 - Dave Edwards, Tom Pinches, Norman Bonham & Peter Spokes lost 29-9 to Inger McNeill, Kim Challinor, Denise Boult & Anne Farmer

Rink 6 - Andrew MacKenzie, Graham Matthews, Thornley Bryant & Nick Griffiths drew 14-14 with Margaret Matthews, Nina Griffiths, Carol Chanell & Pauline Hobson

The overall score therefore was a 113-86 win for the men.

Following the match our members, along with some very special guests, were treated to an amazing meal prepared and served by Tom Holland, John Griffiths, Brian Abigail, Colin Crosby, Bruce Patterson & George Murdoch.

Tom, John & Jan all made some sentimental speeches which were warmly received by all attendees and it rounded off a very special day in the history of our club.

A special thanks go out to all those people who made this such a special day and lets all hope that there are many more special days to come for our fantastic club.
