TRUNDELL TROPHY
12th May 2022 - 6pm - Waddesdon - Won 40 - 29 (3-1)
This evening the ladies got their Trundell Trophy campaign underway with a great win against Waddesdon. Ellen Livett, Naomi Hooper & Carol Crick had the tougher game at Waddesdon and despite going 8-2 down early on they fought back well and got 13-12 ahead. However they couldn’t quite hold on to the lead and ended up losing 16-13 in a great game. At home Leila Brindley, Zoe Watkins & Inger McNeill got off to the perfect start going 11-1 ahead and their opponents then had to make a substitution. We continued to dominate the game and were 25-2 ahead after 13 ends. The conditions started to change and Waddesdon started to grab a few shots back but we finished with a great 27-13 win. Next up in the Trundell are Cheddington next Thursday so lets hope for another good win to push for a quarter final place.

TOP CLUB
Round 1 - Hazells v Aylesbury Town - Won 3 - 1
With the men having gone out of the Top Club already this season our ladies were looking for a good start to their campaign. With the home draw advantage they got off to a great start with Zoe Watkins taking the singles match against Jan Green 21-5, a shot difference that could be worth the extra point if the match was tied at 2 points each. Sue Watkins & Carol Crick managed to take the lead in their game after the 6th end and from there they never gave up the lead, although there were a few anxious moments on the last end as they had a 6 shot lead but were 5 down with Aylesbury having the last wood and thankfully they couldn’t pick up the 6 and we won 16-15. Ellen Livett, Naomi Hooper & Inger McNeill took the lead early on in their match and led throughout, although they too had a nervy end as they were 14=9 ahead with 2 ends to play and then dropped 2 twos to win 14-13. In the fours Ann Ramsay, Anne Farmer, Joan Sweetman & Ann Richardson struggled to get in to the game against a strong Aylesbury rink and they only won 5 of the ends and finished up losing 20-10. However with a 3 points to 1 scoreline we progress to the next round when we will be away to Woburn Sands.

16th May 2022 - Thame - Away - 2.30pm - Won - 50 - 38
This afternoon our ladies had their first friendly of the season at Thame, taking 3 triples. Ellen Livett, Liz Goodchild & Joan Sweetman got off to a great start picking up 8 shots from the first 5 ends and having taken the lead they never lost it again on their way to an 18-11 win. Steph Rose, Margaret Oliffe & Inger McNeill were levelk at 9-9 after 9 ends, despite dropping a 5, however it was the hosts that would go on to control the 2nd half of the game, winning 7 of the 9 ends to win 18-11. Karen Seegoolam, Gill Errington & Leila Brindley picked up a 6 on the 5th end to go 7-3 ahead and they followed that up with a 3 the next end and went to earn a comfortable 21-9 win.
25th May 2022 – Cheddington - Home - 2.00pm - Won 22 - 20
This afternoons ladies friendly was changed from 3 triples to 2 rinks as both sides only had 8 players available and both sides had 1 winning rink each. Ellen Livett, Steph Rose, Marion Garrett & Ann Richardson had a comfortable 18-4 win, including picking up a 5 on the 14th end. Ann Ramsay, Margaret Oliffe, Carol Chanell & Anne Farmer were on the receiving end of a similar score, only winning 3 ends in their 16-4 defeat.
13th June 2022 - Aylesbury Town - Away - Lost 40 - 17
On Monday we had a friendly match against Aylesbury Town but sadly lost on both rinks with Liz Goodchild, Margaret Olliffe, Marion Garrett and Ann Ramsay losing 11-21 and Carol Chanell, Gill Errington, Karen Seegoolam and Ann Richardson losing 6-19. A big thanks to those who stepped in at the last minute, sadly Aylesbury Town were one player short resulting in the match being two rinks instead of three triples.
