Ladies Club Matches

TRUNDELL TROPHY

10th June 2021 v Waddesdon - Lost 47 - 18

This evening our ladies had the worst possible start to the Trundell competition as they lost both home and away, leaving themselves a tough task to qualify for the knockout stages after just 1 game. At home Liz Goodchild, Joan Sweetman & Inger McNeill were on the wrong side of a 25-7 scoreline. At Waddesdon Teresa Newman, Naomi Hooper & Judy Rogers had an equally tough game losing 22-11.

24th June 2021 v Chesham - Won 36 - 34

1st July 2021 v Aylesbury Town - Drew 32 - 32

15th July 2021 v Cheddington - Lost - 27 - 34

BURNHAM PLATE

3rd June 2021 v Princes Risborough - Won - 18-17

This evening Ann Ramsay, Sue Watkins, Karen Seegoolam & Carol Crick started their group games at home to Princes Risborough. This was a tight game which saw us pick up a 5 early on, only to drop the same score the following end. We managed to extend our lead and went into the last end 18-15 ahead and despite dropping a 2, we held on for the win. For some reason this was our only home game of the group stage and so we next play at Aston Clinton next Thursday evening.

10th June 2021 v Aston Clinton  - Lost 18 - 9

Having won their opening match last week the team went in to this game knowing that another good performance would put themselves in a great position to qualify from their group. Ann Ramsay, Sue Watkins, Karen Seegoolam & Carol Crick soon found themselves behind in the match, struggling to come to terms with the green. In a game where they were always playing catch up this was to be a disappointing night for our ladies as they lost 18-9

24th June 2021  v Wendover - 6.00pm - Won 16 - 9

Following the disappointing result in our previous game against Aston Clinton our Burnham team was determined to get back to winning ways tonight at Wendover. Ann Ramsay, Sue Watkins, Karen Seegoolam & Carol Crick got off to a slow start, going 4-1 down after 3 ends however they then picked up 7 shots from the next 4 ends to take the lead. Wendover then picked up a 4 on the 10th end to level the game at 9-9 however we then won the last 5 remaining ends to get back to winning ways and we now move on to Cheddington next week, looking to pick up another valuable win.

1st July 2021 v Cheddington - Lost 15 - 11

24th July 2021 v Chalfont St Giles - Home - 10am

TOP CLUB

Round 1 - Hazells v Aylesbury Town - Away - 7th June 2021 - Won 4-0

Round 2 - Hazells v Marlow  - 18th July 10am - Away - Won 3-1

Congratulations to our ladies who managed to earn an impressive 3-1 win away to Marlow in the next round of the Top Club. Teresa Newman won the singles, Sue Watkins & Judy Rogers won the pairs, Zoe Watkins, Joan Sweetman & Inger McNeill lost the triples and Ann Ramsay, Anne Farmer, Naomi Hooper & Carol Crick won the fours. We will now play at home to Iver Heath in the divisional semi final on a date to be agreed in the next 2 weeks. Please keep an eye on the noticeboard for more details so you can go along and support the team.

Round 3 - Hazells v Iver Heath - Home - 2 - 2 & Lost on Shots

The ladies were at home to Iver Heath on Saturday morning for the next round of the Top Club and this was to be a really close game. In the singles Teresa Newman was playing Rachael Efde and was behind for most of the game however she kept battling throughout and ended up losing 21-12. In the pairs Sue Watkins & Judy Rogers kept up their winning partnership to level the match at 1 point each. In the triples Zoe Watkins, Joan Sweetman & Inger McNeill got off to a great start in their game and they controlled the match throughout and got the 2nd point on the board for Hazells. Ann Ramsay, Anne Farmer, Naomi Hooper & Carol Crick had a much tougher fight on their hands and they went in to the last end losing on their rink but knowing that they needed 3 shots to force an extra end and with just Iver’s last bowl to play we were holding 4 shots however the Iver Heath then managed to find a way in to pick up shot and give Iver Heath the win on shot difference.
