22nd August 2017 – Hazells v Aston Clinton – Ladies Friendly – Lost 57 - 46

All three rinks started well, Kath Cowan, Sue Smith and Ann Richardson were ahead until the tenth end when the opposition pulled up to 9 all, from then on our team only scored another 4 shots and lost 13-18. Ann Ramsay, Ellen Livett and Anne Farmer went ahead at the start and stayed ahead. On the tenth end they were 13-6 but on the twelfth end they lost 6 shots bringing the score to 15-12 the opposition only managed another 3 shots and the home team won 21-15. Karen Seegoolam, Sheila Lawlor and Denise Boult were even at 6 all on 6 ends then the game went Aston Clintons way and despite winning a few more ends it wasn't to be their afternoon finishing 12-24 down

10th August 2017 - Hazells v Long Crendon - 3 Triples Friendly

This afternoon the ladies were looking to get back some pride following our recent mixed friendly defeat against Long Crendon. Ellen Livett, Sheila Lawlor, Kath Cowan & Denise Boult were never behind in their game, although there was only a shot difference going in to the last end, however they managed to hold on for a 19-17 win. On the other rink Sue Smith, Karen Seegoolam, June Redding & Anne Farmer struggled in their game as they found themselves 11-1 down after 7 ends. Unfortunately things didn’t improve much from there as they only won 8 ends in the game and finished up losing 22-11

6th July 2017 - Hazells v Waddesdon - Trundell Trophy - Won 4 - 2 (37-33)

In a crunch game at the top of the table we knew that maximum point’s tonight would secure top spot and home advantage in the quarter finals and anything less and we would be relying on Waddesdon dropping points in their last game against Aston Clinton. At home Ellen Livett, Ann Ramsay, Kin Challinor & Jan Moores controlled their game from the start and they went on to win 23-10. At Waddesdon the game was closer throughout until we dropped 7 shots over 2 ends and with 4 ends to go we were 22-10 down. Being a few ends behind the home team we were aware of the shot difference and Teresa Newman, June Redding, Denise Boult and Inger McNeill held their nerve, picking up 2 shots on the 18th end which left them knowing that they could settle for 2nd wood in the remaining 3 ends to secure the overall win. We picked up a further shot the next end and then dropped a shot on the 20th end, and won the last end to record a 23-14 defeat but an overall win by 4 shots. We now await the result of the Waddesdon v Aston Clinton re-arranged game to see if we qualify in 1st or 2nd place. Congratulations though ladies on this successful group performance during which you haven’t lost a game.

4th July 2017 - Aston Clinton - Hazells - 3 Triples Friendly - Won 47 - 34

This was a game of ups and downs. Karen Seegoolam, Sue Smith and Denise Boult had a slow start, although always in the head, but for 7 ends always just beaten, so on the 7th end they were 8 shots down. On the 8th end they scored 1shot , then on the 10th end another 4. After that they gradually.added to their score finishing just 5 shots behind ending 16-11 down.
Carol Chanell, Anne Farmer and Ann Richardson had a steady start and by the 8th end were 10-1 up.Aston Clinton then scored 1 and the run of successive winning ends for Hazells stopped as Aston Clinton gradually came back. The game finished with a win for Hazells by 5shots which cancelled out Denise's score. 16-11 up.
Kath Cowan, Ellen Livett and Jan Moores had a similar start to Ann's and on the 8th end were 10-1 up.but Aston Clinton couldn't come back as well as the other rink and the game finished with a good win for Hazells 20-7 giving Hazells an overall win by 13 shots.

29th June 2017 - Hazells v Aylesbury Town - Trundell Trophy - Won 6 - 0

Following wins in our last 2 games we went in to tonight’s game against group joint leaders Aylesbury Town confident that we could challenge them for top spot. At home Ann Ramsay, Ellen Livett, Denise Boult & Jan Moores controlled this game from the start and the 2 points from this match never looked in doubt as the game ended 26-12. At Aylesbury Town Teresa Newman, Karen Seegoolam, Carol Crick & Inger McNeill had a closer game however they too managed to secure the win 17-15 to earn maximum points. With just next week’s game against Waddesdon to come we will go in to that game knowing that a win could secure top spot which then gives us home advantage in the Quarter Finals.

22nd June 2017 - Hazells v Aston Clinton - Trundell Trophy - Won 4-2

15th June 2017 - Hazells v Wendover - Trundell Trophy - Won 4-2 (50-38)

This evening the Ladies started their Trundell Trophy campaign with a good win against Wendover. At home Teresa Newman, Ellen Livett, Denise Boult & Inger McNeill played out a great game and were leading by a shot going in to the last end however they dropped 4 shots to lose 23-20. In the away match Karen Seegoolam, Anne Farmer, June Redding & Kim Challinor had a more convincing win 30-15, although the down side of this win was an injury to June which meant that Carol Crick had to rush over to Wendover from Hazells to step in as a substitute. So we hope that June’s injury is not serious and that she will be back playing in the next round next week.

13th June 2017 - Aylesbury Town v Hazells - 3 Triples Friendly - Lost - 64-41

This afternoon our ladies were at Aylesbury Town for a friendly and it was to be a disappointing afternoon for Hazells. Sue Morgan, Ann Ramsay & Jan Moores were involved in a very close game however they lost 16-15. Kath Cowan, Karen Seegoolam & Anne Farmer lost 23-17 & Sheila Lawlor, Sue Smith and Denise Boult struggled in their game, losing 25-9.

10th June 2017 – Ladies Top Club v Bletchley Town – Lost 4-0

Unfortunately the next round of the Top Club was overshadowed by issues that resulted in us losing the home advantage for the match and preference on dates. However our ladies went to Bletchley on the back of their good win against Waddesdon and hopeful that they could pull off another great win. However we were up against a very strong team and although our Four’s took a healthy lead in their game, Bletchley managed to get back in to the game and go on to win the match on all 4 rinks.

8th June 2017 - Hazells v Cheddington - Trundell Trophy - Cancelled as Cheddington moved in to new division

4th June 2017 – Waddesdon v Hazells – Ladies Top Club – Won 3-1

This is starting to become the annual trip to Waddesdon for the ladies Top Club and with mixed success in the past we went in to the game determined to show how good a team we have. In the singles Carol Crick was up against Freya Spokes and despite keeping the game tight early on it was Freya that coped better when the rain came and the conditions changed and she ended up losing 21-11. In the pairs June Redding & Inger McNeill controlled their game from the start, playing some great bowls against Megan Higgins & Judy Plater, to win their match and get the score back level at 1-1. In the triples Karen Seegoolam, Teresa Newman & Jan Moores played out a close game and managed to hold on for the win to go 2-1 ahead. In the Fours Ann Ramsay, Kath Cowan, Denise Boult and Kim Challinor took the early lead only for the hosts to pull the game back. In her first competitive game for the club Kath never showed signs of the additional pressure in this type of game and gave a great performance to help her rink earn a narrow win, giving Hazells a very well deserved 3-1 win and a second round match at home to Bletchley Town, date not yet know at time of writing.

24th May 2017 - Cheddington v Hazells - 3 Triples Friendly - Won 32-26

After struggling to make a team to go to Cheddington. On arrival, we found that 2 ladies hadn’t arrived so we borrowed 1 lady to make 1rink and 1triple.The rink started very slowly and by the 7th end our ladies were not on the board being 13 to 0 down but on the 8th end they scored and continued to gradually pull back, unfortunately not enough ending 21 – 10 The triple fared better and having lost the first end went on to score every end until the 14th all be it mainly 1’s and 2’s they were 16 – 1 up when Cheddington had a late flurry to end the game 5 – 22 meaning Hazells had an overall win by 6 shots

16th May 2017 - Long Crendon v Hazells - 3 Triples Friendly - Won 51-46

After having to abandon the game against Wendover due to extreme cold and snow flurries, we arrived at Long Crendon on a much warmer day although windy.Carol Chanell, Karen Seegoolam and Ann Richardson had an even start on 5 ends they were 3 all, by 11 ends they were 8 all. They then stayed on 8 while the opposition pulled away until the 16th end when they scored 2. Leaving them with 2 ends to go and still a difference of 6 shots. The 17th end saw a great change in fortunes and they scored the 6 that they needed to go into the final end level. Carol got the shot and hung on until the last but one bowl when Ann managed to push another in to end the game an 18-16 win. Ann Ramsey, Nina Griffiths and Denise Boult had a similar start 3 all at 5 ends, 8 all at 12 ends but they did stay even all the way through the game to finish even at 14 all. Ellen Livett, Sheila Lawlor and Janet Moores had a much more commanding start to their game scoring a 5 on the 5th end to pull away until end 9 when Long Crendon scored 5 to even it up, it was then 2’s and 1’s all the way through to the end with Hazells nudging into the lead finishing 19-16

6th September 2017 - Hazells v Cheddington - 3 Triples Friendly - Won 67 - 30

This afternoon our ladies earnt a great win against Cheddington and the stars of the game were Ann Ramsay, June Redding & Denise Boult who lost just 5 ends in the game, winning 29-6, which included a run of 8 ends that they won picking up 20 shots. Karen Seegoolam, Ellen Livett & Anne Farmer weren’t far behind in their game as they only lost 6 ends on their way to a comfortable 23-9 win. On the other rink Kath Cowan, Sheila Lawlor & Ann Richardson had a tougher afternoon however despite a disappointing start which saw them drop 10 shots over the first 5 ends they fought back well to earn a 15-15 draw.

14th September 2017 - Wendover v Hazells - 3 Triples Friendly - Lost 25 - 24

The format of this afternoons friendly with Wendover was changed as we couldn’t get enough players so we fielded 1 triple and 1 rink. In the triples game Ellen Livett, Sue Smith & Jan Moores played out a close game and despite going in to the last end 12-9 ahead they unfortunately dropped 3 shots to draw 12-12.  In the rinks Carol Chanell, Karen Seegoolam, June Redding & Denise Boult struggled from the start and were 9-3 down after 9 ends however they then started to get back in to the game and were actually 12-11 ahead going in to the last end when they dropped 2 to lose 13-12.

21st September 2017 - Hazells v Winslow - 3 Ladies Triples - Won 25 - 16

This afternoons friendly was changed from 3 triples to 2 rinks and was cut short from 21 ends to 14 ends. Ellen Livett, Kath Cowan, Jan Moores & Anne Farmer won just 1 of the first 6 ends and were 10 – 6 down after 11 ends however they then picked up a 4 to get back to 10 – 10 and each team picked up a further shot in the last 2 ends ot draw 11-11. On the other rink Sheila Lawlor, Karen Seegoolam, Ann Ramsay & Denise Boult strolled to a comfortable 14-5 win which included a run of 9 ends won in a row.

On Sunday morning, 11th June 2017, Teresa Newman, June Redding, Anne Farmer & Jan Moores were at Chesham Bowls Club to 0play their quarter final of the ladies fours against Burnham.
