3rd July 2014 v Princes Risborough - Vi Trundell Trophy

Tonight we were back to Vi Trundell action against a very strong team from Princes Risborough and it was that strength that saw Hazells unable to contain their opposition losing 24-13 at home and 33-13 away.

13th June 2014 v Bletchley Town - Ladies Top Club

Tonight our ladies travelled to Bletchley Town for the 2nd round of this years Top Club Competition and they found themselves up against a very strong side. Anne Farmer took responsibility for the singles and despite both bowlers trading blows from end to end it was the host that took control of the game and earned the point for Bletchley Town. Carol Crick & Inger McNeill followed up their success in the previous round with another win and they are starting to show signs of developing a great partnership. Despite dropping 10 shots in 2 ends early in the game they didn't let this phase them and let their bowls do the talking finishing the match with a slender victory and a point to Hazells. Ann Ramsay, Kate Griffiths & Denise Boult formed our triple and again were a match for their hosts early on however Bletchley then took control of the game and earnt a 2-1 lead. The final match of the evening saw Sue Smith, Nina Lane, Sheila Lawlor & Janet Moores take part in the fours match. Unfortunately Blatchley prooved too strong for Hazells on the night and won this game and the overall match 3-1.

12th June 2014 v Aylesbury Town - Vi Trundell

Tonight we had a rink at Hazells & one at Aylesbury Town in the start of this years competition. Anne Farmer, Sheila Lawlor, Denise Boult & Carol Crick played at home and were unfortunate to lose 24-20 however Janet Moores led the away side to a 20-12 win which meant that we won the match by 4 shots.

24th May 2014 v Aylesbury Town - Ladies Top Club

This morning we started this years Tob Club campaign at home to local rivals Aylesbury Town. This competition see both sides provide a singles, pairs, triple and fours team with a point for each match won. Jan Moores put herself forward to play the singles match and she got off to a flying start and soon found herself 20-6 up, needing just 1 more shot to take the first point of the match. However her opponent, Dot Simmons, then started to read the green and found herself fight back to 20-20 after 23 ends. With nerves jangling haviing lost the previous 8 ends it was Jan that managed to take the final & winning shot to win the match 21-20. The Triples match saw Nina Lane, Denise Boult & Ann Ramsay take on Pauline Cook, Margaret Friend & Maureen Peacock and it was the visitors who took the early lead, piucking up 5 shots in the first end. Rocked by this start the Hazells ladies tried in vain to battle back and it was the visitors that wn this event 29-6. The Fours saw Sue Smith, Kate Griffiths, Kim Challinor & Anne Farmer take on Joyce Turner, Julia Hoskins, Judy Rogers & Linda Hewins. This was a close fought match that saw Hazells take the early lead with Aylesbury then to fight back taking a 16-7 lead after 15 ends. However after losing 7 ends in a row this didn't deter the Hazells ladies from fighting back themselves and just 2 ends later they found themselves 18-16 ahead thanks to picking up 6 shots and 5 shots. Anne and her team finished off the game 22-18 to give Hazells a 2-1 lead. So it was down to the Pair of Inger McNeill & Carol Crick against Elinor Patterson & Jeane Ware that would decide the outcome of the match. Early advantage in this match went to Inger & Carol taking an 11-4 lead after 9 ends however they then dropped 6 shots in the next 2 ends to see the lead reduced to just 1 shot.   Despite being a new partnership Inger & Carol then picked up 10 shots over the next 3 ends to take a 21-10 lead and from then on they never looked back finishing the game off with a 23-17 win and earning the Hazells Ladies a great 3-1 win. Well done to all the ladies taking part and good luck in the next round against either Bletchley Town or Buckingham West End.
